I Game Awards 2018, che si sono tenuti in diretta streaming il 7 dicembre dalle 02:30 alle 5:30 ora italiana, hanno visto, nelle più ambite categorie Game of the Year e Best Direction, prevalere a sorpresa God of War su Red Dead Redemption 2, che però è riuscito ad aggiudicarsi la statuetta per la Miglior Narrativa (Best Narrative).
